How to choose cinema and amphitheater seating

Row spacing and seat width

Row pitch, centre to centre, is usually 100 to 130 cm depending on the model, and VIP rows need more. Check against the hall plan that the seats per row and the aisle widths match the emergency-exit rules that apply to your hall.

Rake and sight lines

The backrest should not block the view of the row behind. In cinemas a tall back is more comfortable, but in halls with a shallow rake a lower back is the better choice. Fix the step height and row depth before choosing a model.

Tip-up and auto-return mechanism

In a busy hall a tip-up seat opens up passing space. Auto-return models fold themselves when the person stands. If hall sound matters, ask the maker to confirm the mechanism is silent.

Upholstery: fabric, leather or faux leather

Fabric is more common in cinemas and large halls and is easier to clean or replace. Leather is used for VIP rows and formal halls. For public venues, ask for the fire-retardant specification of the fabric and the foam, and look at the sample under the hall lighting.

Writing tablet and extras

For lecture and training halls, look at models with a hidden or folding writing tablet. Decide whether the tablet is on the right or the left and what share of seats should suit left-handed users. Cup holders, row-and-seat number plates and aisle lights are common requests.

How the seats are fixed

Seats are fixed to the floor, to the riser or to a beam, and some models allow curved (radial) rows. The type and height of the step affect the base, so the layout drawing must be approved before production.

Accessible and special positions

Mark wheelchair spaces, guest rows and positions for projection or interpretation equipment on the plan from the start, so the final seat count does not change later.

Delivery time

Delivery time depends on the size and the quantity of the order. A small order of a standard model is ready sooner, and a full hall in a custom colour and fabric takes longer. State the date you need in the quote form so installation can be planned.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order for cinema and amphitheater seats?

No. There is no limit on the order size, from a few seats to a full hall. Delivery time is confirmed from the size and quantity of the order.

How much do cinema and amphitheater seats cost?

A fixed price is not published because it depends on the model, quantity, upholstery, armrest type and mounting. Enter the hall type and seat count in the quote form and a project quotation is prepared.

What is the difference between a cinema seat and an amphitheater seat?

A cinema seat typically has a softer seat and back, a cup holder and sometimes an auto-return mechanism because people sit for two hours. An amphitheater or conference seat is lighter and more compact, with a more formal look, wood armrests and an optional writing tablet.

Can I choose the colour and the upholstery?

Yes. Most models come in a range of colours and materials (fabric, faux leather or leather), and one model can be ordered in a single colour or a mix, as in the multicolour halls of the Shahr Aftab complex. Look at the sample under the hall lighting.

Are the hall photos NAD projects?

The hall photos show halls fitted with Rezco seating, taken from the manufacturer's catalogue. NAD is a sales partner of Rezco. To see a project reference or an upholstery sample, ask through the quote form or contact us.

Which model suits a home cinema?

Home cinemas use cinema recliners with footrests and side tables, such as the DELUX and VERONA. The home cinema buying guide on the blog covers seat count, riser height and viewing distance.

Which seat is best for a lecture hall?

Amphitheater models with a hidden or folding writing tablet, such as the R-1400/5 and R-2035/5, are suitable. Settle the hall rake and the tablet side (right or left) before choosing.
